A Fresh Voice for Taunton

Taunton, MA…Today Kelly Dooner announced that she will be running for the State Representative seat previously held by Representative and now Mayor Shaunna O’Connell.

“As someone who plans on raising a family here, the future of our state is very important to me.  I want to keep it affordable and responsive to the needs of the people rather than the insiders at the State House.  I will be that fresh voice for the people needed on Beacon Hill. That’s why after very serious consideration and much discussion with my family, friends and loved ones, I am declaring my candidacy for State Representative,” said Dooner.

“I proudly supported Shaunna O’Connell for Mayor.  I believe with her leadership our city will become a beacon.  In order for Shaunna to accomplish this goal, she will need a State Representative who has the same vision.  As the next State Representative, she will have an ally at the State House working hand in hand,” said Dooner.

Newly elected Taunton City Councilor Chris Coute will be serving as the Chairman of the campaign.

“We are putting together a strong grassroots team to win this special election.  I am so glad that Chris will serve as our Chairman,” said Dooner.

Dooner’s platform includes:

  • Protecting Taxpayers by opposing tax increases
  • Work to end the opioid epidemic
  • Strengthening public safety
  • Helping small businesses grow jobs
  • Opposing making Massachusetts a sanctuary state
  • Fighting for fair share of local aid for Taunton and Easton

Dooner is a lifelong resident of Massachusetts.  She earned her paralegal certificate in applied legal studies at Boston University.  Dooner has been actively involved in the Massachusetts Young Republicans and serves on their Executive Board. She is currently serving as the National State Committeewoman.
